Louisburg Cider Mill's famous apple cider doughnuts

LOUISBURG, Kan. — In Louisburg, Kan. the Louisburg Cider Mill cooks up many favorites from apple cider, apple syrups, syrups, jellies, and more. 

A favorite for many are the apple cider doughnuts. 

The doughnuts are made in-house with the mill's own cider. Water, doughnut flour, and apple spice area combined with the cider to make the batter. 

Shawna Masterson has worked at Louisburg for a year. 

"Each batch is 12 dozen. Normally during the week we make 4 to 10 batches a day."

During the busy fall weekends, the two larger machines are used. Those machines combined make 300 doughnuts an hour. 

Although they are popular fall treats, the doughnuts are made all year around. The Louisburg Cider Mill store sells the doughnut mix for those wanting to make them at home.
