An American Muslim business owner who has lived in the Kansas City area for 28 years says he is being harassed both in person and over the phone.

Mohamed has run a local store for 24 years. He asked that we not share his full name or the name of his business out of fear that more people will lash out against him and his family.

Wednesday, one of his customers reached out to 41 Action News about an incident they saw firsthand.

"A guy around 10-ish walked by and opened the door and goes, 'white power" and left in front of the customers,"
Mohamed said. It didn't end there.

"Then I started getting calls from people threatening me and stuff. I finally blocked her number and she sent me a text. That's when I called security." The text reads, "Be ready I'll see you soon."

Mohamed tells us the woman on the phone referenced president-elect Donald Trump, who just this week was asked about his supporters harassing Latinos and Muslims. Trump responded, "I am so saddened to hear that and I say, 'Stop it!'"

The business owner was surprised that his customers reached out to share what happened in his store. "They care. I mean, it's not just a business. A lot of them, they're my friends," Mohamed stressed. He says his family loves Kansas City and they aren't going anywhere.
