After 27 years, Kermit the Frog is getting a new voice and he's from Kansas City, Kansas.
Matt Vogel was born in KCK in 1970. He's taking over the role of Kermit from Steve Whitmire. Whitmire has been the voice of Kermit since 1990. He took over the character after Muppets creator Jim Henson died.
The news was first reported by Muppets fansite Tough Pigs and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Vogel has been voicing Muppets characters since 1996. He's also voiced Big Bird several times for "Sesame Street."
His first work with Kermit will premier next week in a "Muppet Thought of the Week" video.
