Officials are still focusing on recovery and restoration for those displaced after an Overland Park apartment building burned to the ground and caught several nearby homes on fire.

One building at the CityPlace apartment complex burned to the ground and a second has major damage. At least 25 nearby homes also caught fire thanks to high winds carrying embers. Officials say the blaze was started accidentally by a welder.

41 Action News has learned that the building where the fire started did not pass its last inspection but that is typical for structures still under construction.

The $450 million project was planned to include five building when it was completed.
