Olathe teenager Sophie Schneider is one of three throughout the country to be a finalist in the "NFL Play 60". The contest promotes a healthy lifestyle for children and if she wins, she will get free tickets to Super Bowl LI.

Sophie says she makes it a point to get at least 60 minutes of time outside to play.

"I like the weather the fresh air I like playing with my friends or my brothers and I just like being outdoors," said Sophie.

Unfortunately, Sophie is becoming part of the minority of kids living a healthy lifestyle. According to the CDC, the number of obese children in America has doubled in the past 30 years.

"There are so many things that the kids can do inside that doesn't require them to be active at all and they love those things truthfully so I think you really have to set some limits and sometime allowances to tell them 'Ok, your time is up, fun and active,'" said Sophie’s mother Karen Schneider.

According to the annual "The State of Obesity" report 14 percent of children ten to 17 are overweight in Kansas. In Missouri, 13 percent of children ten to 17 are overweight.

“Stay active keep trying new things because there's things for everyone that will make you feel good and healthy," said Sophie.

Sophie hopes she will be able to attend Super Bowl LI in Houston, Texas.

"Oh my gosh it would be so amazing I would be so excited and to take my brothers to a game and my family it just be unbelievable," said Sophie.

"Sophie has a heart of gold and she just has a little sparkle in her eye and she will represent Kansa City just beautifully,” said Karen Schneider.
