Parts of Grandview, Missouri were hit hard by flooding.

The rising Little Blue River damaged several homes in surrounding areas.

Randy Steffens says he’s lived in the area for decades, and this is the worst flooding he’s seen since living here.

“By a long shot, this is the worst it's ever been,” Steffens said. “I've lived here since 1986 and thought it was no big deal, then I walked down stairs, answered my door, and there's mud all over the floor.”

Nearly all the homes, and some cars on Merrywood Circle were damaged by the high floods.

“In the back seat there, you can see there’s water in the floor boards,” Stefffens said.

Nawir Albayaa said he and his family just bought their house and planned to remodel their home, but now he says he’s going to have to start over.

“Honestly we don't have a plan right now, we try to move everything outside,” Albayaa said. “We're already shocked because, you can see inside the house...I don't know.”

As they pick up the pieces, these families are helping out their neighbors as well.

“I think if we help each other, I think we will move through this period,” he said.

Fire officials say several – if not all – of the homes in the area were heavily damaged.

There were a few injuries but nothing serious.
