Some of the world's greatest superheroes came to Kansas City this year for Planet Comicon, the largest comic book convention in KC.

Event organizers expected 50,000 people to come in costume and attend the three days of panels, performances and celebrity question-and-answer sessions.

This was Edith Fine-Duskin's first convention experience, and it was a memorable one.

"Stan Lee is here," she said. "I got to meet him yesterday. He's a sweetheart."

Stan Lee, the co-creator of Marvel comic book favorites like Spider-Man and Captain America, signed autographs for excited fans. Alan Raye was the first person in line to enter on Saturday.

"Everybody knows Stan Lee; everybody knows who he is," Raye said. "A lot of the people here grew up with people on those TV shows."
