LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- Police are investigating after 80 vehicles and a few homes were vandalized over the weekend in the east and southwest sections of the city.

Police say the damage was caused by an air rifle.

Kelli Easley said the back windshield of her husband's truck was shattered, as well as her neighbors' vehicles.

"Four of that we know of in this neighborhood, and that was this round. I know of several others from previous weekends and earlier this summer so it's kind of an ongoing issue," Easley said.

"When you take all of these combined together, we're looking at a felony property damage for our suspects. This isn't just a childish prank, this is serious business," Sgt. Chris Depue with Lee's Summit Police said.

Police are asking folks to be on the lookout for a suspect vehicle, caught on camera by a neighbor's doorbell security footage.

The suspect vehicle is described as a gray, 1980's model Lincoln Towncar with three white males inside. Police say the suspects looked to be around 18 years old.

Police also matched the suspect description to surveillance footage at stores that sold pellet rifles over the weekend.

"A couple of those leads are beginning to prove fruitful. We're following those up and hoping to have charges and an arrest soon," Depue said.

The Lee's Summit Police Department is asking residents to review any video surveillance that they may have around their homes to see if they caught the suspects or their vehicle on camera overnight.
