Santa is coming to Johnson County early this year, and he's coming with toys for Operation Breakthrough.
The Santa Fun Run 5K is put on by the KC Running Company and all the runners are fed by culinary students at Johnson County Community College.
College students and organizers showed up hours before the race started on Sunday to cook for everyone involved.
You don't have to run to participate. A $5 donation to Operation Breakthrough will also get you breakfast.
Every runner is asked to bring a $10 toy for children who are recipients of Operation Breakthrough's Christmas programs. They plan to serve about 3,000 kids this year.
Operation Breakthrough also is a recipient of some monetary donations for programs that help give children who need more support a place to learn and grow.
Organizers expect about 1600 runners this year.
