Freddie Nevels was a father, a friend and a brother.

"He was 23, he was the father of two... he just brought a little boy into the world and he has a daughter,” said Tasha James, Freddie’s sister.

Friday night, Nevels’ life was abruptly cut short.

"A guy came up, shot him in the side, execution style,” said James.

James says she lost more than just a sibling that night, "It's not like he was just my brother, I raised him."

Now, James is fighting for her brother. She says she feels police are not doing enough to catch her brother’s murderer so she’s doing what she can to help. She recently shared with them that there are security cameras on neighboring houses to where to murder took place.

“The evidence is here,” said James.

She says her brother was someone who could’ve really made a difference.

"I believed if he would've gotten the opportunity to leave home and get out in the world I believe he would've been a very very important person in the world,” she said.

James hopes to make a difference too, but making sure Nevels is remembered as a person, not as a statistic.

"My brother, he's not going to go down as another number. This homicide will be solved,” said James.
