Kansas City police said the streetcar operator had the green light and was not at fault in a crash on Thursday.

A Nissan collided with the downtown streetcar at Main and Truman around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The car was driven by 18-year-old Dylan Cline, who was with four other passengers. No one was injured. According to police, the streetcar had 10 passengers, all of whom were uninjured.

According to Cline and his passengers, they were traveling east down Truman and entered the cross-section of Main under a green light.

"I wasn't even thinking about a streetcar coming through,” said Cline.

"I was following the speed limit, just following everything, and next thing I knew, train comin', slammed on my brakes and that was that,” he said.

Donna Mandelbaum with the KC Streetcar Authority said after initial review of the on board video footage, they said the streetcar operator was not at fault. The KC Streetcar Authority provided video of the incident: (If you cannot see the video player below, click here to watch.)

Kansas City, Missouri Police’s Accident Investigation Unit was provided video from the KC Streetcar Thursday night.

A police spokeswoman said that after the review of the video, they have determined the streetcar driver had the green light and was not at fault.

Although the driver of the other car was not cited at the scene, they may be mailed a citation for running a red light.

This crash is the third streetcar incident in only four days. A derailment on Monday delayed the streetcar for several hours, and an electrical glitch shut it down for four hours Wednesday.

"The damaged streetcar will have to be assessed, but was able to return to the Singleton Yard under its own power,” said a police spokesperson.

Streetcar service resumed around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
