Every year on Thanksgiving eve, hundreds of shoppers make their first stop in the grocery store to buy the food for their Thanksgiving meal -- and this year was no different.

People were crowded in grocery stores, and liquor stores all day and evening on Wednesday.

At Marsh's Sunfresh, some shoppers had lists and others did not; but they all had one thing in common: they all wanted to get in, get their groceries and get home.

"I'm here for Sweet potato pie and a few other things," said Lee Allen.

Store clerks were busy re-stocking shelves making sure customers could find everything they need for their traditional thanksgiving meal.

"We're getting all the trimmings," said Laura Noll.

She was also getting a birthday cake for her daughter who turns 2 years old on Thanksgiving day.

Gomer's liquor store was another busy place on Thanksgiving eve. Some people were buying beverages and cocktails to go with their meal and to enjoy after the meal. Others were purchasing spirits to use in their cake and cookie recipes.

One of the unexpected busy places on Thanksgiving eve was pizza places. People were ordering take-out and delivery to eat  while they prepare their thanksgiving meal. At Minsky's Pizza on the Plaza, Lisa Jackson said she's planning a very special Thanksgiving with her family and it starts tonight.

"I'll be cooking my Thanksgiving dinner tonight; but I'll also be playing board games and we'll be enjoying the fire place and my family so I ordered the pizza so we can have that tonight and be ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow," Jackson explained.
