Top Missouri Democrats vying for state and federal seats on Election Day gathered with party supporters in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday for a rally.

The Local 8 Plumbers & Gasfitters union hall hosted the event, which included speeches by gubernatorial candidate Chris Koster, U.S. Senate candidate Jason Kander, and Missouri Attorney General candidate Teresa Hensley.

Many of the candidates touched up on state issues close to their race and the importance of turnout on Election Day.

Missouri Attorney General Koster, who is in a virtual tie in gubernatorial polls against GOP candidate Eric Greitens, spoke about his desire to take on minimum wage and income issues in Missouri.

He said the rally on Friday helped continue a final push for support before voters head to the polls next week.

"This is going to be a close race and we need folks out because, at the end of the day, they're the ones that are going to decide," he explained. "We want to get around the state and talk to everyone that we can."

Koster told 41 Action News that Missouri voters should consider his political experience, which is something he said his opponent lacks.

"Experience matters," he explained. "I'm running against a guy who has absolutely no experience in government."

All of the candidates were met with loud cheers of support as they were introduced at the rally.

Hensley, who is facing GOP nominee Josh Hawley, said much will be at stake in her race.

"What folks need to pay attention to is that they're hiring the next top lawyer in the state of Missouri," she said.

Supporters who attended the rally said they were excited to vote following the event.

"We're at a stage where we have to rally the base and get out the vote," said John Mayfield, a member of the Jackson County Democratic Committee. "The last 96 hours or so is crucial."

The Jackson County Democratic Committee helped organize Friday's rally.
