Trooper, suspect shot at Harrah's Casino

A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper and a suspect were both shot in the Harrah's Casino parking garage Friday night.

Casino security reported about a suspicious man. Troopers then learned the man had a warrant for resisting arrest.

When troopers tried to arrest him near a vehicle in the parking garage around 11 p.m., he pulled a gun and shot one of the troopers.

The second trooper then shot the suspect.

The suspect, Ronald R. Morris, 35, of Kansas City, is reported in serious condition, while the trooper remains in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The trooper who was shot is a 26-year veteran of the Missouri Highway Patrol. The trooper who shot the suspect is a 19-year veteran of the patrol.

The vehicle the suspect was near in the parking garage was stolen out of Kansas City.
