Two midtown Kansas City businesses on 39th Street near Bell are closing.

The owner of D.B. Cooper's Bar and the owner of Po's Dumpling Bar are both retiring.

Customers have been coming to D.B. Cooper's Bar for almost 40 years.

"We had a good time. We got off work and came over here to unwind," Steve Sampfel, a D.B. Cooper's Bar customer, said.

Kim Giese decided it was time for a change. She's been running the bar since her husband died seven years ago.

"It's a bittersweet moment. I'm sad. I think about my husband all the time. This was his dream, and he had a great time here, but I am retiring. I'm done," she said.

After 10 years in Midtown, Po's Dumpling Bar is also saying goodbye and closing its doors on Sunday.

"I want to tell all my customers I appreciate all the customers' support. Thank you," Rita Ow, the owner of Po's, said.
