LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- Two men were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after rolling their truck in an attempt to flee the scene of an accident.

According to police, emergency crews were called to the area of NW Murray and NW O'Brien Rd. on a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a black-and-gold truck in a grass area on the corner of the intersection.

Two men inside the truck were taken to an area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

As investigators processed the scene, the driver of a second vehicle told them the truck had sideswiped their vehicle on SW 3rd St.

The driver of the truck reportedly refused to stop to report the accident, so the other driver began to follow them. When the driver of the truck tried to elude them, he lost control and rolled the vehicle.

Witnesses and the other driver both reported hearing gunshots coming from the truck as the occupants were trying to flee.

Detectives recovered weapons and drugs at the scene from inside the truck.

Both men remain in police custody. The investigation continues.
