St. Paddy's means green for Westport business

Crowds decked out in green and spilling over with good spirit will soon line the streets of midtown Kansas City for the city's 44th St. Patrick's Day parade.

"There's going to be a lot of people down here having fun and enjoying a really fantastic parade," said Drew Barr, the manager of Westport clothier The Bunker.

While they aren't selling adult beverages, St. Paddy's Day has the retailer seeing green.

"We are directly on the parade route so we get a lot of foot traffic from people who normally wouldn't come down to Westport and don't see the shop on a normal basis," he explained.

The reason is that revelers need something to match all that green beer they'll be guzzling down - something The Bunker said it'll be able to cash in on, even though the store will close up shop early.

"At some point in time, with Westport being an entertainment district, it does become a little wild," said Barr.

That's why police and a private security detail to keep things safe.
