Three suspects were arrested and charged after a home invasion and burglary led to shots fired in Blue Springs, Missouri on Thursday afternoon.

Deron E. Bandy, 17 of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Javonte M. Tiger, 18 of Independence, Missouri, face first degree burglary and stealing charges.

According to court records, Bandy and Tiger and an unnamed juvenile went inside a Blue Springs home near 3rd Street  and stole a gun. Witnesses told officials they heard multiple gunshots and saw three young men running down the street, one carrying a gun.

As officials searched for the the suspects, Lucy Franklin Elementary, James Lewis Elementary and Brittany Hill Middle School were on lockdown during the search for the suspects. As a precautionary measure, Mid Continent Public Library's Blue Springs North Branch was also on lockdown.

A neighbor shot at the suspects during the home invasion.

"So I thought I heard a gunshot in this house. These guys leaving with a gun case," said Allan Quigley, the neighbor who fired shots at the suspects. "I thought he had gotten hurt or shot or whatever, so I said, 'Hey stop! Freeze!' And then that's when I shot."

Officials say the suspects stole two guns from the homeowner -- an AK47 and a Ruger 9mm pistol. The AK-47 was later found.

Two of the suspects left the scene on foot and one left in a vehicle, according to police. One suspect that left the scene on foot was immediately taken into custody. Another, who was hiding in the home, was also taken into custody.

After police located the suspect's vehicle, the third suspect turned himself into police.

Blue Springs police originally believed a fourth suspect was at large, but now say there were only three suspects and all are in custody.

Several police agencies assisted Blue Springs, including the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Officials said the suspects may have left a weapon, police found it during the search.
