Police in Raytown have launched an investigation after a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted Tuesday at Raytown Central Middle School.
A release indicates the girl was assaulted on Tuesday afternoon by an male student in the 8th grade. The assault allegedly took place in a school bathroom.
The Raytown School District released a statement regarding the alleged incident. The statement was also sent home to parents.
"On Thursday, March 23, the District was informed by the Raytown Police Department of an investigation into a reported sexual assault which occurred during the school day at Raytown Central Middle School on Tuesday, March 21. Raytown Central Middle administration and the school district are cooperating with the Raytown Police Department and have begun and internal investigation into the reported behavior. Appropriate actions will be taken based on our findings."
