MISSION, Kan. – One man raised more than $15,000 to provide new bedding for dogs and cats at all the shelters in Kansas.

Scott Poore volunteers at animal shelters in the Kansas City area, and noticed that laundry was a big job at many.

Animal shelters ask for blankets and sheets so pets can have a comfortable place to sleep at night.

Poore started a GoFundMe and raised more than $15,000 in just one week.

“It is finally feeling real today, because we are donating 1,000 beds to three shelters today, and that is a huge impact. So that means 1,000 pets will be sleeping on a brand-new bed tonight and that is what it’s all about,” Poore said.

Monday, he made his first donation at the Great Plains SCPA in Mission.

“Making them feel like they are in a home, having volunteers come in and walk, pet, love on them, and for them to have a comfortable spot to call their own is amazing,” Director of Foster Care Kriste Everett said.

This week he will donate 1,000 beds to all of the shelters in the Kansas City area.

In all, he was able to purchase 2,000 beds, which is enough for all the shelters in the state of Kansas.
