Missourians will vote this November on changing the state constitution when it comes to voting.

Gov. Jay Nixon set the Nov. 8, 2016 general election as the date for the vote on the ballot measure. The measure places additional requirements on Missourians before they are allowed to cast a ballot.

One of the provisions is you must show a photo ID in order to vote. Supporters of the measure say this will cut down on voter fraud, but opponents say this could keep people from voting.

This is not the first time Missouri has tried to pass this type of voter change. The Missouri Supreme Court has ruled against photo identification requirements in the past. That's why lawmakers this year are asking voters to change the constitution to give them the power to require a photo ID to vote.
