This Saturday at noon on NBC Sports Live Extra, America's best male and female marathoners will compete for just six spots on the United States Olympic Marathon Team. One of the women competing in that race is Connie Teague out of Lee's Summit.

It hasn't been an easy road. Teague has been set back time and again with hip injuries, and she battles anemia too. That's really tough to do in a sport that requires so much time and energy.

But Teague has overcome it all.

Teague fell in love with running while at Shawnee Mission South High School and followed her passion to Kansas, where the injury bug and anemia made it difficult to compete. She thought her running days were numbered but soldiered on.

Then her sister challenged her to run a marathon, so they signed up for the Chicago Marathon in 2008, and Teague blasted across the finish line in three hour and three minutes! That's an unbelievable time for a first time trip over 26.2 miles.

So at that point, her dreams came alive again.
