The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association has announced that Kansas City Royals First Baseman Eric Hosmer has won the 2017 Heart and Hustle award.

The honor is given to one player on each MLB team and recognizes them for their passion for the sport and their embodiment of the values, spirit and traditions of the game.

“We are proud to present Eric Hosmer with the Heart and Hustle Award again,” said MLBPAA chief executive officer Dan Foster. “His work both on and off the field embodies the spirit of this award.”

Hosmer also won in 2016.

It’s the only award in the league that is voted on by former players.

Voting will open to fans and active players for the final winner who will be selected from the 30 team winners.

The final winner will be announced on Nov. 14.
