A group of independent filmmakers shot "The House on Pine Street" in Leavenworth, Kansas and Independence, Missouri. They then took the horror movie on road and around the world. But for the first (and last) time, it's playing on the big screen in Kansas City at the Alamo Drafthouse.

We sat down with two of the three movie makers - Aaron Keeling and Natalie Jones of E3W Productions -- to learn a little bit about what went in to making the KC-born and bred film and what's next for the team.

Watch the trailer:

Kansas City is a really proud city. For folks who haven't seen "The House on Pine Street", why should they?

Aaron: What's really exciting about this film is that it is a completely local film - it is all KC, all of our crew, all of our cast except one or two people were from the area. We shot it in Leavenworth and in Independence and it was a completely homegrown productions. We made it especially for horror fans. We love horror and we want people who love horror to be excited for it but we also keeping in mind that a lot of people don't like to be scared, so we think people who don't like horror would be interested in seeing as well.

Why was it good to shoot a movie like this outside of Hollywood?

Natalie: It's a completely locally made production and I know the KC film office are really trying hard to get more films to come to KC so it's really nice to support the films that are being made here so bigger projects can be made in the future.

You shot the film here and now it's finally come full circle by appearing on the big screen. What's that like for you?

Aaron: This is your very last chance to ever see the film on a big screen so we are very excited we are here in Kansas City. We hope to get a lot of people to come out and say goodbye to the film before it goes out in the world for everyone else to see.

Natalie: It's really nice that it's finally come full circle and it's really nice to experience everything with Kansas City. We made it here for a reason. We love Kansas City and we love that we get to share in with KC.

You can see "The House on Pine Street" Tues., Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse. Tickets are $10. The filmmakers will stay after the films ends for a Q&A panel discussion. Buy tickets here
