KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It was a good weekend to be a movie theater.
Leawood-based AMC Theatres said they set a single-day attendance record on Saturday, as movie-goers turned out to see Avengers: Endgame.
The company said it sold 2.6 million tickets for the movie on Saturday, breaking a record set in 2018 with Black Panther.
It wasn’t just tickets that helped the movie chain’s bottom line.
The company said it sold more than $28 million worth of food and beverage on Friday and Saturday.
Since Thursday, AMC said it showed the movie 63,000 times.
Across the world, the movie brought in $1.2 billion at the box office.
