Reader's Digest names best pumpkin patches in Missouri, Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Starbucks is selling Pumpkin Spice Lattes already, so that must mean it’s fall, right?

Well, even if you’re not quite ready for cooler weather, sweaters, pretty leaves and Halloween (but honestly, who isn’t?), you can start planning your fall outings now.

Reader’s Digest recently released a list of the best pumpkin patch in each state.

In Missouri, Carolyn’s Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch took the honor.

Located in Liberty, it boasts attractions such as a kid-sized railroad, petting farm, mining camp, country store, bakery and even pig races.

On the Kansas side, The Walters’ Farm in Burns is apparently the place to be the second you feel that distinct fall crispness in the air.

Even though it’s a bit of a hike from Kansas City at about a two and a half hour drive, it could be worth it for you and your loved ones to experience the activities at the farm’s Pumpkinfest.

According to the Walters’ Farm website, visitors can participate in attractions such as a pumpkin scavenger hunt, “Terrifying Timbers” (a “soft haunt”), a corn maze and much more.
