When the Nordhues found out that their first baby was due on March 1, 2016, they took a look at the calendar and discovered that it was just possible to make this particular “birth” day, extra special.

Molly Nordhues, a nurse in labor and delivery herself, said she and her husband, Shawn, decided to put a once-every-four-years spin on it.
So, they arrived at the Women’s Center at Menorah Medical Center on Sunday evening. The baby was already making it clear, last Friday, that he or she was ready to arrive.
As of Monday morning, things were moving along.
According to Dawnell Oberdorf, the Charge Nurse, parents often try to time a birth for a fun date like 12/12/12 or New Year’s or, in this case, February 29.
Molly Nordhues said that this is not an attempt to save money on birthday presents. The little one will celebrate on March 1, most years.
But, when that February 29 rolls around, it will be quite the day. Especially for sweet 16!
