Ready for a Monday morning spin?

City Gym at 74th and Wornall is a happening spot before the sun comes up.

In addition to the usual suspects doing weights, climbing stairs and moving the machines, a dedicated group is already spinning their wheels on the way to good health.

Instructor Laura Mogenson has been teaching this class to early rise and shiners for quite a while now. She says she has been doing it for 150 years, but that has to be an exaggeration.

Different than just a stationary bike, these spinners are state of the art, accommodating every rider’s skill level and exercise goal.

The big screen can provide information on how many RPMs are being reached and how many calories are being burned.

It feeds the competitive spirit.

Laura also plays inspirational music videos to keep everyone moving ahead while not moving at all.

The perfect balance between 21st century tech and Laura’s inspirational good humor makes this SPINPower class the wheel thing.
