KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs said Wednesday it would close three Eastern Kansas VA Health Care System outpatient clinics “to protect the health of our community from the potential spread of COVID-19.”

The VA outpatient clinics in Platte City, Missouri, and Wyandotte and Lawrence in Kansas closed Wednesday.

The department said it would notify patients when the clinics reopen, but did not offer an exact timeline.

Staff from the clinics are being relocated to the two main medical centers in the KC area, or moving to tele-work, the VA said.

Veterans experiencing coronavirus symptoms are asked to stay home unless they need urgent medical care.
