KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two northeast Kansas county health departments are urging residents to be patient as they deal with a surge of phone calls.

The Atchison County, Kansas, Health Department and the Jackson County, Kansas, Health Department say over the past couple of weeks they have been overwhelmed and understand if people are frustrated.

The departments say if you're trying to get through to them you should leave a message.

Anyone who may have tested positive or been exposed to COVID-19 and needs a quarantine release letter should email the departments at the following emails: atcovidinfo@nekmulticounty.org, jacovidinfo@nekmulticounty.org.

"Thank you for your patience as we try to figure out the best way to help our community members during this time," the departments both said in separate Facebook posts.
