UPDATE, Nov. 16 | The Excelsior Springs branch will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Curbside service and limited in-branch services, including computers and copiers, will resume.

Library staff who were potentially exposed have been screened, and the building underwent professional deep cleaning, according to Mid-Continent Public Library.

ORIGINAL | A potential exposure to a COVID-19 case forced the temporary closure Sunday of the Mid-Continent Public Library’s Excelsior Springs, Missouri branch.

According to a new release, the library was shut down after officials learned that a staff member had tested positive for the virus on Sunday.

The library says it is contacting patrons who were in the branch, located at 1460 Kearney Road in Excelsior Springs, on Nov. 7-8.

Book drop services at the library will remain open, and the library plans to extend hold times to ensure items are available when the branch re-opens.

More information is available on the library’s website.
