KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County Swim and Dive League announced Wednesday the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
"Based on current and projected social distancing guidelines, group limit guidelines and the concern for participant, coach and staff health during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Johnson County Swim and Dive season has been canceled,'' according to a statement from the league.
The statement said it was a difficult decision to cancel the season, but the league relied on advice from public health experts.
Merriam, Fairway, Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Roeland Park and Shawnee all have field teams in the league.
