KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Douglas County is one of several Kansas jurisdictions that are making adjustments to their COVID-19 reopening plans following the release of the statewide plan Thursday by Gov. Laura Kelly.

The Douglas County Health Officer announced Friday that in-person dining at restaurants and libraries will remain closed through at least May 17.

“At this point, as we look to enact a safe and smart reopening, we believe continuing a mitigation strategy related to gatherings that can occur at restaurants and libraries is necessary to contain the coronavirus in addition to the restrictions in the Governor’s plan,” Dr. Thomas Marcellino said in a news release.

Carryout, drive-thru and delivery services will continue to be allowed at Douglas County restaurants.

The statewide stay-at-home order is set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials in Douglas County said Friday they do not plan to make any additional orders beyond those outlined in Kelly’s plan.
