KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo is joining the fight against COVID-19.
The car manufacturer has partnered with Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lenexa to increase production of collection kits for COVID-19 testing.
The engineering team and manufacturing experts are teaming up to produce additional materials to collect COVID-19 test samples. Machinery that currently produces glass vials for other products will now produce plastic vials for drive-thru tests.
Officials with Thermo Fisher believe the team effort will triple the number of collection kits the group produces beginning the week of April 20.
