KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Harrison County Health Department Board of Trustees voted Wednesday night to rescind a public health order related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which would have implemented a countywide mask mandate Thursday.

The department previously voted Dec. 10 to adopt the mandate, which would've required anyone over 2 years old to wear a face covering or mask anytime they were around people who were not household members in Harrison County.

The order also would have required public facilities and businesses, which are open to the public, to post a sign at their entrances stating that masks or face coverings be worn inside.

Under the order, all schools within Harrison County also were required to implement a mask mandate policy.

As of Dec. 2, The South Harrison School District had 487 students under COVID-19 quarantine or in isolation.
