KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Johnson County wants to hear from health care providers about which members of their staff would like a COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available.
The Johnson County, Kansas, Department of Health and Environment is asking those organizations to complete a form online so the county can begin assessing the number of health care workers who want the vaccine.
By filling out the form, the health care providers will be placed on a list and notified if the vaccine becomes available to them. The availability of the vaccine, however, is not guaranteed.
“Receiving the vaccine is an important part of mitigating the spread of the virus in Johnson County,” JCDHE Director Dr. Sanmi Areola said in a news release. “Please take this short survey to determine the best way to distribute it to the first priority group which includes both paid and unpaid health care workers.
The county is following distribution recommendations from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In Kansas, first priority for the vaccine will go to frontline health care workers and long-term care residents and staff. The first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine began arriving at hospitals in the state earlier this week.
Health care providers in Johnson County can find the form online. Only one representative per organization needs to complete the form.
