KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment hopes to gain a better understanding of the spread of COVID-19 in the community by asking residents to complete a survey about their health.

The survey, which was made available online Tuesday, will close at 10 a.m. Friday. It asks residents whether they have shown any symptoms of COVID-19, as well as demographic information.

The health department says the information gathered from the survey is confidential and will only be used to determine how the coronavirus is spreading locally.

Those who fill out the survey will be asked to take it again several more times in the next few weeks to compare results.

“Please fill out the survey accurately and completely,” JCDHE Director Dr. Sanmi Areola said in a news release. “Completing the survey is voluntary, but we ask that as many people as possible participate to get a good picture of how the coronavirus is spreading in the community.”

Anyone with questions about the survey can call the Johnson County Community Hotline from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 913-715-2819.
