KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Department of Labor released a timeline Thursday for when Kansans can expect further unemployment compensation from the CARES Act.

Hundreds of thousands of Kansans have filed unemployment claims as the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stay-at-home order left many out of a job.

Thursday, KDOL Secretary Delía García announced the remaining programs in the CARES Act should be paid out to Kansans by the end of May.

That includes Pandemic Unemployment Insurance (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC).

Kansans may file for PUA by May 12 with payments processing by May 25.

PEUC should be live by the end of May as well, according to the KDOL release.
