KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted Friday to play fall sports in the spring.

The board chose to adopt the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s recommendation allowing schools that can’t or don’t want to play in the fall to play in the spring.

KCKPS Athletic Director Tammie Romstad supported KSHSAA’s plan.

Earlier, the board voted to allow students to begin conditioning within the next few weeks.

The five KCKPS high schools play in the KCAL League, along with Atchison High School.

Atchison's plans were not immediately known, though recent posts on the district's Facebook page indicated some sports were being played.
