KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas State High School Activities Association Board of Directors voted Wednesday to allow more spectators at winter sporting events.
Beginning Jan. 29, four spectators will be allowed per participant, an increase from the previous two allowed.
Social distancing between spectator parties will be required, along with masks.
Participants include players, coaches, student managers, cheer squads, dance teams, pep bands and student journalists.
In November, the KSHSAA recommended not allowing any fans until Jan. 28, 2021, and a limited number of fans after that.
However, following calls from parents to allow fans, the board eventually decided to allow two spectators per participant.
Local school districts may choose to have stricter limitations based on seating and local health department guidelines.
