KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Department of Corrections said Monday it has finished testing all of the inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility and found 86% of those who tested positive for COVID-19 showed no symptoms of the virus.

According to the KDOC, all inmates at the facility were tested for COVID-19, a process that was completed on May 6. The department said 694 inmates had tested positive with 598 of those inmates being asymptomatic.

Three inmates at the facility have died from the virus.

In addition, 88 staff members at Lansing also have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the corrections department. Forty-seven staff have returned to work, and 64 inmates are considered recovered from the virus.

The Lansing Correctional Facility currently houses around 1,700 adult male inmates, including those who were moved from the Wichita Work Release Facility after testing positive for the virus.
