KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As COVID-19 cases are increasing throughout the country, the NFL Players Association medical director advises against athletes “practicing together in private workouts.”
Dr. Thom Mayer said in a statementreleased on Saturday that the decision is a “consensus medical opinion.”
“Our goal is to have all players and your families as healthy as possible in the coming months,” Mayer said. “We are working on the best mitigation procedures at team facilities for both training camps and the upcoming season.”
Mayer also advised against “voluntary joint practices” ahead of training camp.
