Schools across KCMO will close until at least April 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Schools across the Kansas City area on the Missouri side announced plans to be out for the next three weeks after consultation with government officials.

Shortly after Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas amended his State of Emergency declaration to tighten rules on public gatherings and interaction in accordance with more stringent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, a cascade of school cancellations were announced.

The following districts will not return from spring break or have been canceled through Friday, April 3, meaning classes wouldn’t resume until Monday, April 6, at the earliest:

  • Blue Springs School District
  • Center School District
  • Excelsior Springs Schools
  • Fort Osage Schools
  • Grain Valley Schools
  • Grandview C-4 School District
  • Hickman Mills School District
  • Independence School District
  • Kansas City (Missouri) Public Schools
  • Lee's Summit R-7 School District
  • Liberty Public Schools
  • North Kansas City Schools
  • Park Hill Schools
  • Platte County R-3
  • Raytown C-2 School District
  • Raymore-Peculiar School District
