University of Missouri-Columbia reports 159 COVID-19 cases on the first day of classes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On its first day of classes, the University of Missouri-Columbia, announced it has confirmed 159 cases of COVID-19 on its campus.

The university revealed the numbers in a dashboard it launched to track cases on Monday.

According to the university, the "figures on the MU dashboard are based on cases tested and confirmed at the MU Student Health Center and other testing locations in Boone County, as identified by the county health department and shared with the university."

The 159 cases make up about 0.5% of the student body, according to the university.

All 159 students who tested positive are in isolation, the university said.
