KCKPD identify city's 1st homicide victim of 2021

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was found dead in Kansas City, Kansas, Friday morning, marking the city's first homicide of 2021.

Police responded around 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 1 for a person lying in the snow, according to KCKPD.

A spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, said the man, who has been identified as 53-year-old Mustaffa J. Muhammad, was found dead near North 44th Street & Parallel Parkway.

A neighbor saw the body in a snow bank and called police. According to the department, the man suffered a gun shot injury.

On Friday, Kansas City, Missouri also recorded its first homicide of 2021, after a woman died after being stabbed.
