Imagine having your purse stolen; credit cards, driver's license and private documents gone.
One Kansas City woman says what thieves took from her was much worse -- a $127,000 bionic prosthetic arm.
Martha Catmona said she has not had part of her arm since birth. She said when she had the bionic prosthetic, she felt Iike she was using a whole arm. Now that someone stole it, all she feels is loss.
Someone broke into Martha Carmona's minivan in her driveway overnight.
Her purse, backpack, jewelry, makeup, immigration documents and social security card were all stolen. However, none were as important as the item that gave her a renewed sense of self.
The mother of five said she's had the bionic arm less than a year, but she's wanted it her whole life.
"It's the loss. It's so difficult. In a way I'm still having trouble processing, what just happened," said Carmona.
Police went door-to-door to see if any of the neighbors saw something.
At this time Carmona does not know if she will be able to replace the high tech prosthetic.
