KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two suspects are in custody following a chase that reached speeds more than 100 mph through Lee's Summit and Raytown on Friday morning. The search continues for a third suspect.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said troopers tried to stop a Kia SUV around 4:15 a.m. Friday near Missouri Route 291, just north of U.S. Highway 50.
The vehicle was identified by the Lee's Summit Police Department as a suspect vehicle in some early morning break ins.
The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit began.
MSHP said the Kia traveled west on U.S. 50 through Lee's Summit at speeds over 100 mph before getting onto Missouri Route 350 into Raytown.
The vehicle continued at a high speed through Raytown until it stopped at an apartment complex near 62nd Street and 61st Terrace.
Three occupants jumped from the Kia, and two were taken into custody at the scene.
Troopers are working to determine if the vehicle used in the pursuit was stolen overnight.
