KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Khalid Heron-Boone was charged Tuesday in Jackson County court with murder among other counts in Sunday’s deadly shooting outside a Kansas City, Missouri, apartment complex.
Police and prosecutors allege that Heron-Boone, 26, shot Matthew Cox and robbed him shortly before 7 a.m. in the parking lot of the Hyde Pointe Apartments.
Cox had been shot in the chest and his pockets were turned out when KCPD officers arrived, responding to a ShotSpotter sound of shots call and reported shooting in the 4100 block of Troost Avenue.
Heron-Boone has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. A $200,000 bond has been requested by the prosecuting attorney’s office.
