KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three teenagers were charged in connection with a Prairie Village murder.

The Johnson County District Attorney announced charges Wednesday against 35-year-old Jesse Monreal in the May 5 shooting death of 18-year-old Kiven M. Maquial in the parking lot at Highlawn Montessori School.

Now, three teenagers — a 16-year-old from Mission, 17-year-old from Merriam and 17-year-old from Kansas City, Kansas — also have been charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery.

Monreal, who is being held on a $1 million bond, faces the same two charges. He’s been arrested in Missouri.

The names of the three teens charged have not been released because they are minors.

Police officers who were called to the school to investigate an unresponsive party found Maquial unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound around 6:15 a.m. He died a short time later.
