KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 35-year-old Lansing Correctional Facility inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday.
Correctional facility staff and emergency medical personnel administered life-saving measures, but they were unable to revive Michael Moore, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
KDOC said Moore was serving a sentence for convictions of driving under the influence, aggravated escape, possession of opiates, narcotics, or stimulants, and robbery in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Moore's earliest eligible release date was May 10, 2031, according to officials.
Per protocol, KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating Moore's death. An independent autopsy will determine the cause of Moore's death.
